Conduct of Blood Donation Camp at PG College Bhaderwah on 12-12-2018.

The college is organising a Blood Donation camp on 12-12-2018 in collaboration with HDFC Bank Ltd. WBO Bhaderwah. All the donors are requested to submit their names to Dr. Javed Iqbal NCC Officer of the college by or before 11-12-2018 afternoon for smooth conduct and arrangements of the camp.

Rashtriya Ekta Dewas Celebrated in GDC Bhaderwah.

A seminar was organized by NSS Unit of GDC Bhaderwah on the topic “Unity, Integrity and Security of India” on the eve of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31-10-2018. The programme started with welcome address by Prof. Prithvi Raj. He highlighted the importance of unity and integrity among the different section of society and country. Further he emphasized to maintain the brotherhood and peace in the nation. Prof. S.S Bhalwal Principal of the college was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Prof. S.S Bhalwal gave a detailed account on the life history of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and paid a tribute to Late Smt. Indra Gandhi on her death anniversary which falls on the same day. More than 15 students participated in the seminar and Miss Kibriya Fatima was judged as 1st, Miss Mamoona as 2nd and Miss Sangeeta Devi as 3rd. The role of judges was played by Prof. Pinki Kotwal, Prof. Deepa Kak, Prof. Jai Mala Thakur, Prof. Sanjay Kumar and Prof. Nafeesa Zargar. Other faculty members who attended the programme include Prof. Arjun Kotwal, Prof. Manjeet Singh, Prof. N.K Manhas, Dr. Nisar Bullah, Prof. Rabinder Kumar, Prof. Vijay Kumari, Prof. Sanjana, Prof. Archana, Prof. Anita. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Arjun Kotwal HOD Computer Science.

GDC BHADERWAH ORGANISED MEGA EVENT ON START-UP.

The Start-Up compaign has been launched in the state as a part of National campaign for which the college was selected to organize the Boot camp by the JK EDI, the enterprneurship development institute. The JKEDI team comprising of Mr Syed Fardous,project officer, Jammu division,Mr Gohar Co-ordinator JKEdI Doda, Mr Akarshan, Asstt. Trainer, Mr Mudadser, faculty member and Mr Abid visited the college to aware ,train and select the final year/semester students of college. The visiting team was given a warm welcome by the principal, staff an the students.The key resource person was Mr Akarshan Singh from New Dehli who gave detailed account on starts up in his presentation. Speaking on the occasion Principal Prof. S. S. Bhalwal highlighted the importance of starts up in India and the state of Jammu and Kashmir and encouraged the students to develop the interest in the business and take the benefits starts up. He thanked the EDI officials for organising these job creating events. The awareness and training session countinued for more than 4hrs where the team of experts presented their ideas and business models through their power point presentations. Two local successful starts up Mr Arif and Mr Yudhvir also shared their success stories. More than 200 students participated in this session both from PG and UG . After lunch the “pitch your idea” session was organised where five ideas were pitched by 8 participants before the EDI expert team students. Of the five ideas four ideas got selected for the grand finale event to be organised on 16, 17 and 18 oct 2018 at JKEDI, Srinagar campus. The selected participants Miss Mamta Katal, Miss Almas, Mr Danish, Miss Deepti, Mr Ankush, Mr Kartik, Mr Sanjvir have been called for for grand finale at Srinagar where they shall get free lodging, boarding facility. The programme was compared by Prof Prithvi Raj and a formal vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. S.S.Parihar. Degree College Bhaderwah celebrated the 2nd anniversary of Parakarm Parv (Surgical Strike) alongwith the entire nation.

Degree College Bhaderwah celebrated the 2nd anniversary of Parakarm Parv (Surgical Strike) alongwith the entire nation. The celebrations took place on 29th and 30th of Sept. 2018. On 29th of Sept. a mega function was organized in the central conference hall of the college where college staff and a large number of students participated. The college NCC cadets and NSS volunteers played a lead role in the celebrations under the guidance of NCC officer Dr. Javid Iqbal and NSS Programme officer Prof. Davinder Kumar. Marking a start to the occasion, Prof. S.S Bhalwal Principal of the college highlighted the significance of such programmes especially in the prevailing socio cultural and geo-political milieu. Prof. Bhalwal narrated the contributions of Indian Defense Forces in safe guarding of boarders and maintaining internal security, peace and tranquility. He counted on the role of Indian Army and other Defense Forces in three Indo-Pak wars of 1965, 1971 and 1999 (Kargil war) wherein the enemy was given a befitting reply and defeated badly. Even during peace time situations the Indian Defense Forces have played a significant role to help civilians come out of destruction and trauma of natural calamities such as floods, earth quakes and tsunamis. The worthy Principal gave an example of floods in Kashmir, Uttrakhand and Kerla where the Indian Army played a great role in rescue and relief. His speech was a great source of inspiration and motivation for the students to join Indian Defense Forces as one of their career options. Dr. Javid Iqbal NCC Programme Officer also expressed his views on the occasion. He emphasized on the importance of professional knowledge, competence and courage to take the decisions as the hall mark of leadership qualities as the prime need to join the Indian Army. The audience was also shown the video clips of Military operations including Surgical Strike and war movies. The programme concluded with the formal vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Davinder Kumar NSS Programme officer of the college.The function continued on the 2nd day i.e. 30-09-2018 as a sequel to the Parakarm Parv (Surgical Strike) celebrations. A large number of students, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets attended the programme apart from the college staff. On this day the family of martyr Nib Subedar Late Sh. Chuni Lal (Ashok Chkra, Sena Medal and Virchakra) were invited. The programme started with the inaugural speech of Prof. S.S Bhalwal Principal of the college who gave a detailed account of the services and contributions of Nib Subydar Late Sh. Chuni Lal. His speech moved the audience and inspired the students to choose military services as their career options. Dr. Javid Iqbal NCC Officer also spoke on the occasion highlighting the role of Defense Forces in the service of nation. The family of Martyr Subedar Late Sh. Chuni Lal comprising his mother, wife and father were presented with the bouquet and shawls as a mark of respect and honor. The audience was mesmerized by the patriotic songs of Ms Sangeeta, student of UG Sem-III. National anthem was also sung towards the concluding session. The programme culminated with the vote of thanks presented by Prof. Davinder Kumar NSS programme officer.

The focus of campaign ill be college campus, different wards of Bhaderwah town & adjoining areas ,parks, status & adopted village. Nukar natak, skits, lectures, discussion & meeting ill be conducted to make Bhaderwah open defecation free & beautiful town.

NSS day celebrated in Govt.Degree Bhaderwah.

A debate was organised by NSS Unit of GDC Bhaderwah on topic Teachings of Gandhi ji on eve of NSS day on 24-9-2018 under "swachhta he sewa ha" Dr.javed Iqbal incharge principal was chief Guest on the occasion.The programme started with welcome address by Mr.Nasir Wani. Prof Davinder Kumar P.O. NSS Unit of GDC Bhaderwah highlighted the importance of NSS day, its aims, Programmes,activities and importance of NSS in nation building. Nearly 10 students perticepated in the debate. Prof Arjun Kotwal, Prof Vijay Kumar and Prof.Jai Mala Thakur were judges on the occasion. Miss.Kibriya Fatima,Miss Sangeeta Rukwal and Mr.Asif Ashrag were 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively winners of the the event. Dr.Javed Iqbal in his address congrulated the NSS Unit for organising the event.He highlighted the role of Gandhi ji in freedom struffle and nation building. Prof. Surinder Parihar HOD Economic also presented his view point on the topic.The other prominant staff present on the occasion include Prof Mansa Ram. Joint Secretary UGC New Delhi visits GDC Bhaderwah.

A team comprising of Joint Secretary UGC New Delhi Dr. Urmila Devi, Director Colleges Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Chatt and Director Planning Higher Education Department J&K Govt. visited Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah on 24th& 25th of July 2018. Principal Prof. S.S Bhalwal and staff gave a warm welcome to the visiting guests. During the interaction Prof. S.S Bhalwal Principal of the college apprized the team about the current status and profile of the college through a power point presentation. The PPT was focused on the current status of college infrastructure, hostel facility for out stationed students, college land area, student enrolment, status of ongoing developmental works and possibilities of further expansion and scaling of infrastructure. During a brief interaction with the students and college staff, Joint Secretary UGC Dr. Urmila Devi emphasized on the need of boarding and lodging facilities especially for out stationed girl students to create an environment of safety and security so that they can focus on their studies without any kind of distraction. She enquired from the students about their teaching learning experience in the college. At this the student representatives shared their views and thoughts about the quality standards of education services being provided by the college. Her over all interaction was quiet inspiring and motivational for all the students of the college. The team visited different departments of the college and also had a view of the acquired land in the possession of the college to explore the possibilities of further expansion and scaling of the college infrastructure. The Principal and faculty members of the college expressed a deep sense of gratitude for the visit.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. S.S Bhalwal Principal GDC Bhaderwah welcome the experts from the judiciary and he congratulated the legal authority for organizing such an event on the crucial issue pertaining to the higher education and the present day problem of the students and awakening them regarding the legal aspects of the problem of anti ragging. The key speaker Advocate ManjeetRazdan highlighted the need and importance of the anti ragging legislations. The next speaker was Advocate Vebhow Sharma who shared the awareness regard various sections of anti ragging laws and then Advocate Mr. Mudesar and Advocate Mr. Majid also shared their views on the issue. The chief guest on the occasion was MsReenuDogra Sub Judge District Session Court Bhaderwah and the event was presided over by the Principal Prof. S.S Bhalwal. GDC Bhaderwah celebrated Kabir Jayanti.

Today on 29-06-2018 a programme on teachings of Saint Kabir was organized in which the students and the staff members of the college shared their thoughts from the poetry and other literary works of one of the great Indian Saints Sh. KabirDass. Starting with Prof. NazZargar quoted different couplets from the Kabir poetry which were widely lauded by the audience. The other speakers who spoke on the importance of teachings of Kabir were Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof. N.K Manhas, Prof. Rabinder Kumar. Prof. S.S Pariharthe key speaker gave power point presentation on “Spiritual Education and Life : Saint Kabir” through which he highlighted the importance of spirituality in life for the transformation of society from the materialistic view to the spiritualistic one. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Javid Iqbal, Principal for the day, congratulated the audience on the eve of this day and he also appreciated the efforts of organizing team for this event. The event was attended by more than 200 students. Principal GDC Bhaderwah flagged off a team of College students for SWACHH BHARAT SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2018.

Principal GDC Bhaderwah Prof S S Bhalwal flagged off a team of College students for SWACHH BHARAT SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2018 under the guardianship of Nodal officer Prof. Arjun Kotwal HOD Computer Science. Prof N K Manhas HOD Physics also accompanied the team. Addressing the students, the worthy principal highlighted the significance of cleanliness of our homes and surroundings to make clean India mission a successful campaign. Many students of the college had registered their names a couple of months back as volunteers to work for and carry forward the clean India Mission to every nook and corner of Bhaderwah town. This time they have selected, a village called Diggi in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda. They have prepared a work schedule of their activity with the preset objectives and targets to be accomplished in 100 hours of internship program. It may include house to house visits and meetings with local masses of Diggi village to educate them about the ideals and objectives of Swachh BHARAT Abhiyan, a campaign to clean India, launched by govt of India on 2nd of Oct 2014.They will also aware them about the simple tools and techniques of maintaining personal and community hygiene as an essential ingredient of physical, mental and spiritual health and healthy lifestyle. It will not be out of place to mention here that this group of volunteer students of the college have played an active role in many extra curricular activities of the college concerning sociocultural and environmental issues.

A one day National Seminar on Spirituality, Morality and Education was organized today on 26-06-2018 at GDC Bhaderwah. A large number of participants turned up in the event from across the lengths and breadths of the state and even from outside. The seminar started with the inaugural session by lamp lighting ceremony and welcome song presented by the college students.This was followed by the presentation of bouquet to the honorable guests. Prof. S.S Bhalwal Principal of the college presented welcome address to the honorable guests and distinguished participants. He also highlighted the significance and relevance of spiritual and moral values as an essential ingredient of modern education. Prof. Assadullah Wani presented the key note address. Prof. Mohd Iqbal Former Principal of the college and Prof. Basharat Iqbal also shared their valuable thoughts in the inaugural session of the programme. Prof. G.M Bhat Rector Bhaderwah Campus Jammu University was the chief guest who delivered a thought provoking lecture to inspire and motivate the budding scholars and the young faculty. The formal vote of thanks in the inaugural session was proposed by Prof. S.S Parihar HOD Economics and the session was compared by Prof. Bal Krishan Asstt. Prof. in Zoology. There were a total of 35 research papers received from research scholars and the academicians from the various colleges and universities of India. .There were two technical sessions of paper presentations . The first technical session was chaired by Dr. Javed Iqbal HOD Botany and co-chaired by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed and Rajiv Katoch. The second technical session was convened after the lunch break which was chaired by Dr. Nisar Ahmed Bullah HOD Chemistry and co-chaired by Prof. N.K Manhas and Dr. Reyaz Ahmed. The first technical session was compared by Prof. Pinki Kotwal Asstt. Prof. in Physics and the second technical session was compared by Dr. Reyaz Ahmed. The rapporteur for the first technical session was Prof. Vijay Kumar,Asstt. Prof in Urdu and for the second technical session was Prof. Rakesh Pandit,Asstt. Prof in Physics. A valedictory function was organized at the end of the 2nd technical session presided over by Dr Mohd Iqbal ,former Principal of the College . Dr. Javed Iqbal presented the welcome address followed by the presentation of momentos to the guests. Principal Prof. S.S Bhalwal presented the concluding remarks on the seminar .The Seminar culminated by the distribution of certificates of participation by the chief guest. Prof. Prithvi Raj ,HOD Commerce compared the valedictory session and Prof. Deepa Kak proposed vote of thanks . HDFC Bank Branch Bhaderwah under the aegis of Mr. Rajesh Parihar, Manager of the bank co-sponsored the event. International Day of Yoga celebrated in GDC Bhaderwah on 21-06-2018.

On the eve of International Day of Yoga i.e. 21st June 2018, a Yoga session was organized in Degree College Bhaderwah. A large number of students including NCC cadets and NSS volunteers participated in the event apart from the college staff. The proceedings of the programme were carried out under the guidance of a well trained Physical Instructor of the college Mr. Ajay Kumar who performed some specific Yog Asnas before the students and the staff who followed him accordingly. The programme was presided over by Prof. S.S Bhalwal Principal of the college. The worthy Principal shared some valuable thoughts about the significance of Yoga in the modern stressful life and emphasized that Yoga should be done not just on Yoga Day but every day. He emphasized that Yoga is not just a physical exercise but a spiritual practice which helps us to dive deep in to the conscious state of being to experience the subtle dimensions of life. This is the part of our ancient Yogic practice and Indian culture which has no been adopted officially by the world. Lt. Col Rajnish Partap also joined the Yoga session as a guest of honor. Dr. Javid Iqbal also expressed his views about the health benefits of Yoga and advised the students to adopt Yoga as an integral part of their life.

Campaign for Enhancing Legal Services to Women Inmates of District Doda at District Jail Udhampur.

Ms. Jai Mala Thakur Asstt. Prof. Deptt. of Sociology visited District Jail Udhampur alongwith other committee members on 19-05-2018 as a part of campaign to educate the women inmates of District Doda about their rights to appeal, availability of free legal services and utility of jail services clinics in the prison. Ms. Jai Mala Thakur has been nominated as a member of the District committee constituted by Principal District and Session Judge Bhaderwah to carry out a campaign for enhancing legal services to women inmates and their accompanying children in the prison.

GDC Bhaderwah organised awareness program to guide the students about Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) on 07-06-2018.

An awareness program to guide the students about the processes and procedures of filling OMR sheets in the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) scheduled to be held on 10-06-2018, was organized today on 07-06-2018 at GDC Bhaderwah. The program was organized under the aegis of college Principal Prof. S.S Bhalwal who took this initiative in response to the directions of Jammu University vide letter No. CDC 2018/1770-76 dated 29-05-2018. Many student aspirants turned up in the programme to learn about the tools and techniques of filling up of OMR sheets. Prof. Arjun Kotwal acted as a guide and coach to help the students learn detailed procedures of filling of OMR sheets. He answered many queries raised by the students during an interactive session. Prof. Bal Krishan spoke on the need of reorienting the existing education system in line with the fast evolving information and communication technology to enable the stakeholders face the challenges of modern times. Prof. S.S Parihar and Prof. Satish Kumar conducted a brief career counseling session for the benefit of students where the students also shared their teaching learning and other experiences in the college.

Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah observed World Environment Day on 05-06-2018.

Observing the week long campaign on environmental awareness under the overall supervision of Principal Prof. S.S Bhalwal, the college observed the world environmental day today on 5th of June 2018. Interacting with the students Prof. S.S Bhalwal highlighted the importance of the day and apprised the students regarding different environmental problems and motivated them to be the partners as well as the ambassadors of the college in the campaigns and events to save the environment. He flagged off the students rally with banners from the college towards the town area. In the rally more than 400 students participated with the placards displaying different slogans on environmental awareness, polythene and plastic awareness. Further the students marched through the different streets of Bhaderwah with the banners and raising slogans on the “Save Environment”. Vice Chancellor University of Jammu visits GDC Bhaderwah on 29-05-2018.

Prof. R.D Sharma VC University of Jammu visited Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah today on 29-05-2018 for having enlightened interaction with the student and faculty of the college. He was given a warm welcome, a guard of honor was presented by NCC wing of the college and the welcome song was presented by Miss Priya and party. The interactive session started with a welcome address by Prof. S.S Bhalwal who highlighted the various issues and problems pertaining to the college. Speaking on the occasion the Hon’ble VC deliberated on different issues and queries raised by the students and the faculty members of the college. He appreciated the efforts by the college to meet the requirements of the learners and extending support services to them. The session was attended by all the staff members and a large number of students both from the PG and UG departments. The programme was compared by Prof. Prithvi Raj, HOD Commerce and ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Javid Iqbal Zargar, HOD Botany.

The proposed seminar on "Spirituality, Morality and Education" has been re-scheduled for 26-06-2018.

This is for the information of all the concerned, that the proposed seminar on "Spirituality, Moality and Education" scheduled to be held on 04-06-2018 has been postponed on account of holy month of Ramadan. The event has been re-scheduled for 26-06-2018. Accordingly the dates for submission of Abstract and full paper have been extended to 10th of June and 15th of June 2018 respectively.

University Team visited GDC Bhaderwah for the introduction of Computer Application and Philosophy as new subjects at UG level from current session.

The team of five experts including Prof and Dean Social Sciences Prof Mubarak Singh and Prof. Khem Paul Singh,Asstt. Registrar University of Jammu under headship of Prof. G.M.Bhat reached the College at 11a.m today on 26 may,2018 and visited the various departments and labaratories to prepare the report for the approval and affiliation of new subjects and courses such as computer application, philosophy and other job oriented courses.The team had an interaction with the staff and students of the college. The Principal of the College Prof. S.S.Bhalwal briefed the team members about the infrastructure facilities ,acadedemic support as well as the strengths,weaknesses,opportunities and challenges,he apperised the members that the College is under the process to get NAAC accreditation for the Cycle 2 .He expressed his expressed his thankfulness and gratitude to the team for visiting the one of the oldest institution in the state .Speaking on the occasion Prof. Mubarak Singh shared his experiences in the college as a Professor and he motivated the staff to work honestly and get rewarded by the society by earning the great self respect.Speaking on the occasion the team members shared their views on quality and NAAC aspects.Lastly Prof. G.M.Bhat emphasised on the contributions of the, teaching fraternity to the society in general and the students in particular. He underscored the need, for the full fledged University for the erstwhile Doda region for benefit of the students to give them the vast opportunities and exposure and make them competitive at the national and international level .In the interaction programme the welcome address was given by Prof. Balkrishan and a formal vote thanks was presented by Prof.Arjun Kotwal.

One day National / State/ Regional Seminar On Spirituality, Morality and Education on 4th of June 2018.

GDC Bhaderwah is going to organize one day National/State/Regional Seminar on Spirituality, Morality and Education with sub themes. The Department of Environmental Science in collaboration with the deptt. of Education & Sociology has organised a plastic free campaign in the college campus today on 23-05-2018. But mere collection of polythenes & plastics will not help us as ultimately we are dumping our waste either in some water body or dispose them off onto the land or we directly burn it By doing this the situation become more and more worse,as by burning plastics, the highly toxic gases are liberated into the atmosphere On the land these persists for thousands & thousands of years as these are non-biodegradable& daily million & million tonnes of waste is dumped in to the environment Plastic waste management is a critical issue The prime need is to mange it by reducing rather stoping its usage.

Department of Chemistry ,GDC Bhaderwah organised an extension lecture on “Quality research and related aspects” today on 22May2018.The resource person for the lecture was visiting Professor V. Sridharan, Associate Professor ,Central University ,Jammu who delivered a very interesting and interactive lecture .He emphasised on the learners to be a creative and good researchers .He also apprised the students regarding financial support by different foreign Universities for the research .After the lecture there was interaction with the staff members and the students.Different queries of the staff and the students were responded positively by Dr. Sridharan. It is pertinent to mention that the resource person has added many feathers to his stock. He has been to different foreign countries and has 69 publications and 302 citatations .Appreciating the achievements of Dr Sridharan, Principal of the College, Prof. S.S. Bhalwal in his address congratulated him and encouraged the learners take become the smart researchers and be the job creaters rather than the jobseekers.The lecture was attended by large number of students both PG and UG as well the staff members both teaching and non-teaching. The welcome address was given by Prof.S.S.Parihar and a formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Bal krishan.

Programme on Swatch Bharat Abhyan was organized under the aegis of IQAC of GDC Bhaderwah today on 11th May, 2018.

An awareness programme on Swatch Bharat Abhyan was organized under the aegis of IQAC of GDC Bhaderwah today on 11-05-2018. A large number of students participated in the programme who took a pledge on the occasion to keep the institution, their homes and surroundings neat and clean making clean India mission, a flagship programme launched by Govt. of India a success. The programme was organized by the active participation of newly constituted IQAC of the college in which the lead role was performed by staff secretary Prof. Prithvi Raj and Prof. Surinder Singh Parihar. Prof. Prithvi Raj also anchored the programme. A good number of teaching faculty members attended the programme. The speakers on the occasion were Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof. Rakesh Kumar Pandit, Prof. Sandeep Kotwal, Prof. Surinder Singh Parihar,Prof. Katoch,Prof Katal, and Prof. Bal Krishan, who spoke on various aspects of the role of teachers and students in organizing such events from time to time at the level of institution as a part of Swatch Bharat Abhyan. Dr. Javid Iqbal HOD botany presided over the function and also shared his valuable thoughts about the leadership role of the institution in inspiring and motivating our young human resource to harness their potential in the growth and development of our nation.

GDC Bhaderwah Observed International Red Cross Day:Today on May 8,2018 the event was organised which was attended by all the faculty members and more than 400 student participants. The faculty members who spoke on the occasion were Prof.S.S.Parihar,Prof.Balkrishan and Prof.Sandeep.The event was presided over by the Principal Prof.S.S.Bhalwal who in his concluding remarks deliberated on the relevance of Red Cross Society,role of youth as volunteers in tackling humanitarion crisis and other manmade as well natural disasters.He motivated the youngsters to play greater role in the social activities that lead to the benefit of the masses .The event was anchored by Prof. Prithvi and a formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof.Taki.

In the program faculty members of the College interacted with the fresher’s under the able leadership of the Principal Prof.S.S.Bhalwal who in his address deliberated on quality teaching-learning practices, do’s and don’ts, discipline and facilities provided by the College to the learners. Government Degree College Bhaderwah organized one day Workshop on” NAAC Awareness” today on 29th March ,2018 to sensitize all the employees of the college on NAAC process and quality related issues. NAAC is National Assessment and Accreditation Council with Head Quarter at Bangalore.TheCouncilgrades the Higher Education Institutions on the basis onquantity and quality parameters and benchmarks.Speaking on NAAC,the Principal of the college Prof. S.S.Bhalwal in his inaugural address highlighted the importance of NAAC for the institutions of higher learning and the importance of internal quality assurance mechanism to develop the quality culture in the day today working of the institutions. The key speaker, Prof. S.S.Parihar through power point presentation explained the NAAC criteria and sub-criterions, its process and the Grading System as well as certification, grievance mechanism and other tit-bits. The workshop was attended by both the teaching and non-teaching staff members. After presentation the technical session was organized where the audience queries and issues were addressed by the Prof.Bhalwal and Professor Parihar. Theevent was anchored by Pr. Prithvi Raj ,welcome address was given by Prof P.K.Chib and a formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Ankush. Govt.PG College Bhaderwah Organised Training cum Placemept Drive

Govt. PG College Bhaderwah organized training cum placement drive under UDAAN . In the inaugural address the Principal of the college Prof. S.S Bhalwal highlighted the importance of quality education, apprized the students regarding the project UDAAN and he stressed upon the learners to work hard and become successful in perusing their career. The resource person from Roman Technology Mr. Akil Ahmed introduced the students regarding the UDAAN project and role of Roman Technology in training and placement of youth from J&K in the first session. The session was attended by large number of students from the Arts, BCA and B.Com streams as well as the faculty members. In the second session upto 100 students were interviewed by the above said resource person and out of them 26 were selected for the training under UDAAN at Delhi/Banglore. The students have been directed to complete their documentation at the earliest to get themselves enrolled for the training.The event was managed and organised by Prof. Ankush, Prof.Vijay and Prof. S.S. Parihar. It is pertinent to mention here that during training session the accommodation and meals shall be free for all the trainees and each trainee shall get Rs. 2500/- per month as stipen. Further one way TA shall be born by the company itself. Once the training is complete and the trainee becomes employable he/she shall get absorbed by the corporate sector with the minimum salary of Rs. 1.80 lacs per annum which means Rs. 15000/- per month.

Government Degree College Bhaderwah organised a sensitisation programme on the the endevour to ensure Corruption Free India.The l/C Principal Dr Javed declared the session open.The key speakers in the programme were Prof.Rajiv Katoch ,Prof S.S.Parihar ,Prof.Manhas and Prof.Javed Mohi-ud Din. The speakers highlighted the importance of ICT,imrovement of the work culture in offices,incentives for honesty,digititalisation of services etc to check menace of corruption .In the conluding remarks Dr Javed Iqbal Zargar stressed upon the need for moral education and honest living to keep corruption under check in the society and he underscored the impotance of ICT to stop corruption in the the system.The programme was anchored by Prof. Bal Krishan and the Integrity Pledge was read out by Prof. S.S.Parihar.The programme was attended by all teaching and non-teaching staff members and a large number of students.The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Arjun Kotwal.

Gender Champions organises seminar on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao on 16-10-2017

A seminar on the topic “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” was organized by the Gender Champions of Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah on 16-10-2017. In the seminar 11 students participated and expressed their views on the topic. Prof. Naz Zargar, Prof. S.K Katal, Prof. Vijay Sharma and Prof. Arjun Kotwal acted as judges to judge the performance of the speakers and Miss Kibriya Fatima student of BA Sem-I, Mr. Sumit Singh student of B.Sc Sem-I and Mohd Asim Student of BA Sem-III were adjudge the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. In the seminar all the speakers stressed upon the transformation of gender inequality to gender equality and also it was pledged to have and play respect to the girls.The welcome address was given by Prof. Pinki Kotwal nodal teacher of the gender champion of the college. Prof. P.K Chib, Prof. Jai Mala Thakur and Prof. Bal Krishan also exprese their views on the topic. EVS Deptt. organized painting competition on the occasion of Wild Life Week celebration on 06-10-2017

Department of Environmental Science has organized a painting competition on the occasion of Wild Life Week celebration on 6th of Oct. 2017. Students of different streams of the college have actively participated in the competition. This competition was organized in order to make students aware about the importance of wild life. The welcome address was presented by Prof. Vijay Kumari HOD Environmental Sciences. She focused on the importance and need of conservation of our wild life species. The guest of honor for the occasion was Prof. Davinder Kumar from Deptt. of Botany. Prof. Davinder Kumar and Prof. Harish Chouhan from Deptt. of Environmental Sciences acted as jury members whereas Prof. Harish Chouhan announced the result for the competition. Prizes were distributed by Prof. Davinder Kumar and he also gave valuable suggestions and motivated the students on the occasion.Overall 8 students participated in the competition and first position was secured by Mr. Nasir Abass Dar of B.Sc Sem-III there was a tie for 2nd and 3rd position. Second position was secured by Mr. Rakesh Kumar a student of B.Com Sem-III and Mr. Azhar Jahan of B.Sc Sem-III. And 3rd position secured by Mr. Nitin Kumar of B.Sc Sem-I and Mr. Mohd Assim of BA Sem-III. Rest of students were given consolation prizes. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. Zenab Ara Khan of Deptt. of Environmental Sciences. She further motivated the students to participate in such programmes in future.

Cleanliness drive by Gender Champions group of GDC Bhaderwah on 23-09-2017

As a part of Swachh Bharat Abiyan ( clean india mission),Gender Champions group of students of GDC Bhaderwah,carried out a cleanliness drive within the college campus today on 23-09-2017,and cleaned the college drainage system,sweeping foothpaths and handpicking of litter and other wastes.The various places within the campus were cleaned, which include college central lawn,area around the library and arts block. It is pertinent to mention here that the college Gender Champions group which has been recently constituted under the aegis of college Principal Dr.Mushtaq Ahmed Dar has been performing well as per the expectation in the transformation of attitudes and behaviour of students especially in promoting the gender sensitivity and gender equality. The entire activity was made a success by the active participation and management of Gender Champions Committee comprising of Prof.Pinki Kotwal (Nodal teacher), Prof.Manjeet Singh(member), Prof.Deepa Kak(member), Prof.Manzoor Ahmed(member), Prof.Vijaya Kumari, Prof.JaiMala Thakur(member). At the end, worthy Principal stressed upon the significance of sanitation, cleanliness and hygienie of personal and community,and encouraged the committee and Gender Champions of the college to continue such healthy activities in the future also.

Quiz competition Computer ERA-2K17 organized by the Deptt. of BCA on 19-09-2017

A quiz competition on the topic, Computer ERA-2k17 was organized by the deptt. of BCA GDC Bhaderwah today on 19-09-17, under the aegis of college principal Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Dar. Five teams of the students of BCA participated in the said competition in which the team that emerged to have attained the 1st position comprised the students-namely –Miss. Anjali Kotwal, Mr. Sourabh Shukla and Mr. Adarsh Kumar. A larger number of students turned up to attend the programme. Miss. Sheetal Kotwal a student of 3rd semester conducted the proceedings of the programme as the anchor. The entire programme was made a success by an active management and indulgence of teaching faculty of BCA namely. Prof. Arjun Kotwal (HOD) Prof. Sahil, Prof. Majid and Prof. Sumeeta. Mr. Bashrat Iqbal HOD English graced the occasion as a guest of honor. The winners were awarded with individual prizes and certificates of participation was issued to all of the student participants. Clean College Campus Drive By NCC Unit of GDC Bhaderwah on 16-09-2017

The NCC cadets along with other students and faculty of GDC Bhaderwah carried out a cleanliness drive on dt.16-09-2017 in sequel to the cleanliness campaign already initiated by the college as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The areas around the college library, MP hall Biosciences deptt. & college canteen etc. were cleaned by sweeping and by hand picking of litter and other wastes. The volunteers were quite enthusiastic about such an activity and were determined to take this campaign to their villages and towns to aware the community at large about the significance of cleanliness and hygien.

Cleanliness Drive In the College on 15-09-2017

As a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (clean India Mission) launched by Govt. of India, the students and faculty of Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah in collaboration with Municipality Bhaderwah carried out a cleanliness drive with in the campus on dt. 15-09-2017 in which apart from sweeping of roads and footpaths in the campus, college drainage system was also thoroughly cleaned.Speaking on the occasion Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, Principal of the college emphasized upon the significance of cleanliness and hygiene of our surroundings. He also spoke on the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a clean India mission launched by Govt. of India on the initiative of hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narinder Modi. It was also resolved that such campaigns of cleanliness drives shall be carried out in future also.

Class work for Sem-3 and Sem 5 shall start w.e.f. 08-08-2017

The regular teaching class work of UG-III and UG-V Semister for the year 2017 shall start w.e.f. 08-08-2017. All the students who got admission for the said semister in the college are advised to attend their classes regularly.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Dar joined as Principal of the college. He is a resident of Sopore, District Baramula Kashmir. He was graguated from Boys College Sopore and done his Mphil and Phd. from Kashmir University. Dr. Dar worked as Professor (Hindi) in Women College Baramula, GDC Kathua and GDC Leh.

Three Days Workshop on “Entrepreneurship, Professional Trends and Career Options” in collaboration with the Deptt. of Life Long Learning University of Jammu in which large number of students and staff of the college participated concluded here today. In the valedictory function Mr. Sardar Sajad Ahmed Khan SDPO Bhaderwah was the chief guest and Mr. Muneeb Umar Asstt. Director Employment was the guest of honor. Prof. Z.A Hashmi Principal of the college presided over the valedictory function. In the Dr. Javed Iqbal presented the comprehensive report of three days workshop and highlighted the achievements and presentations made by the Special Resource Persons. Large number of the students from different streams and faculty attended this programme. Prof. Surinder Singh Parihar Convener Career Counseling introduced the Resource Persons and presented welcome address. The special resource persons on professional trends and career option Mr. Nadeem Khan, Prof. Prithvi Raj and Mr. Gowhar Nazir made a thought provoking and fruit full presentation during the technical session in the morning. Speaking on the occasion Sardar Sajad Ahmed Khan SDPO Bhaderwah interacted with the participants in question answer session and shared practical experiences for getting career in para military forces especially in J&K Police services. He also presented motivational thoughts to attract the female students to come forward to take up the day to day problems related to women. He appreciated the efforts of the college administration and the staff for organizing such programmes to aware the young graduates for different career options. Mr. Muneeb Umar Asstt. GDC Bhadarwah celebrated World AIDS Day

On the occasion of “World AIDS Day” a seminar on the topic “Hands up for the AIDS” was organized by the Red Ribbon Club of Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah in collaboration with J&K AIDS Prevention and Control Society J&K Health and Medical Education Deptt. Jammu. The programme was presided by the Principal Prof. Z.A Hashmi. Dr. Javed Iqbal Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club presented the keynote address and highlighted the various aspects of the disease and aware the students about the preventive measures. The programme was organized to recall the responsibilities of the youth in shaping the social fabric to make it free from all social evils. The proceedings of the programme continued under the banner proclaiming the need for creating awareness about the challenge of the fatal disease namely AIDS. The Special Resource Person Prof. Bal Krishan delivered a lecture on the causes, prevention and the treatment of the disease. In the seminar various speakers presented their views and papers on the AIDS. Mr. Irfan, Mr. Manjeet Kumar and Mr. Irfan Ahmed secured 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions in the seminar respectively. While highlighting the objectives of the Red Ribbon Club in terms of AIDS Prof. Haqiqat Singh Chouhan presented his poetic presentation and made it clear that there is need of every possible care to be taken collectively to uproot the evil. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Z.A Hashmi congratulated the staff and students for organizing the seminar and entrepreneurship workshop and appealed the students to act as the ambassadors for the awareness of the masses against the dreadful disease of AIDS. Constitution Day Celebrated in GDC Bhaderwah

In connection with the celebrations of “Constitution Day” a seminar on the Indian constitution was organized in the college. Prof. Z.A Hashmi Principal of the college presided over the function. Large number of the NSS volunteers and staff of the college participated in it. Speakers highlighted the basic and fundamental aspects of the Indian constitution to abide by the constitution and respect its ideal and institution to cherish and follow the noble ideals which inspired our national struggle and freedom movement. Dr. Javed Iqbal laid stress on the fundamental duties and appealed the students community to perform their duties in building up a free, egalitarian, healthy and responsible society. He also laid stress on reduction of environmental pollution. Prof. Z.A Hashmi Principal of the college speaking on the occasion said that India is a multiracial, multilingual vast democratic country having a composite culture and we can prosper only when the students and citizen of this country respect its integrity, sovereignty and cultural harmony. Earlier Prof. P.K Chib NSS programme officer presented the inaugural address and Mr. Burhan NSS volunteer conducted the proceeding of the programme. Deptt. of Geography organized a socio economic tour to Mounda Sartingal

The Deptt. of Geography organized a socio economic tour to Mounda Sartingal on 22-10-2016, under the supervision of Prof. Javed Mohi-ud-Din HOD Geography. The students made a door to door survey relating the economic activities and socio economic conditions of the people. The students also studied Geomorphic profile of the area. The students got the information relating the infrastructural facilities and disparity lies with the area. The principal of the college Prof. Z.A Hashmi made an on spot inspection to the study area. He was accompanied by HOD Botany who is also well known Phyto-geographer. The Principal interacted with the students and came to know whether the geographical tour was organized in a systematic manner and made general viva-voce with the students relating the purpose of the tour. The students were happy with the Principal by his on spot visit. The teachers were appreciated by the Principal for conducting such geographical tour.

A seminar on the subject/topic “Mental Illness and the Remedial Measures” was organized today on 08-10-2016 on Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah. The seminar was organized in coordination with the Hon’ble members of judiciary, police and health department. On this occasion the speakers probed into the various causes leading to mental diseases and psycho-neurotic problems. They also contemplated on the alarmingly rising rate of mental illness cases. Taking the problems as a challenge the speakers emphasized the need of all possible measures to control the problem. The students who spoke on the occasion included Seema of B.Sc Sem-I and Arif Hussain of BA Part-III. Prof. Z.A. Hashmi Principal of the college welcomed the esteemed guests and emphasized the need for maintaining a liaison with other social and government institutions in order to create a congenial atmosphere for organizing such programmes which can inculcate within every body a sense to provide emotional relief to those battling with mental retardation. Miss Sargun Shukla ASP Bhaderwah alongwith DSP Sajad Khan highlighted the role of the police in curbing the causes leading to ill mental health. Mr. Manoj Parihar Sub Judge Bhaderwah, Mr. N.P Khajuria highlighted the role of judiciary in curbing the problem in question. Earlier Dr. Javed Iqbal HOD Botany welcomed the guests and presented the aims and objectives of the programme. He also conducted the proceeding on the stage. Prof. Basharat Iqbal in his final address pointed out the psychological reasons that lead to mental disorders he also emphasized the need of controlling excessive desires that become the principle cause of anxiety, worry and finally psychological and psychoneurotic problems. Deptt. of Geography Govt. Degree (PG) College Bhaderwah organized two days workshop on cartography 27th & 28th of Sept. 2016. The students of the subject and faculty members were present in the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by Vice Principal of the college Prof. Basharat Iqbal. He highlighted the importance of cartography at Urban, Rurban and village level. Prof. Javeed Mohi-ud-Din Mir made a difference between past and present cartography. Prof. Mohd Quasim practically made aware about fundamentals and techniques of cartography. Prof. Z.A. Hashmi has always given boostness to organize such workshops. The programme was attended by students of Geography and other disciplines. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Taseer Ahmed who also conducted the proceeding of the programme.

On the occasion of “The International Youth Day” a seminar on the topic “AIDS/HIV a threat to the Society” was organized by the NCC unit and Red Ribbon Club of Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah. The programme was presided by the Principal. Dr. Javed Iqbal HOD Botany presenting the keynote address highlighted various aspects of the disease and aware the students about the preventive measures. The programme was organized to recall the responsibilities of the youth in shaping the social fabric to make it free from all social evils. The proceedings of the programme continued under the banner proclaiming the need for creating awareness about the challenge of the fatal disease namely AIDS. The programme was organized under the supervision of Dr. Javed Iqbal Associate NCC Officer Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah. While highlighting the objectives of the programme he made it clear that there is need of every possible care to be taken collectively to uproot the evil. Prof. Basharat Iqbal HOD English congratulated the NCC unit of the college for organizing awareness programmes for the youth in order to raise within them the urge to become respectable citizens of our great nation. He also emphasized them to contribute all capabilities of head and heart to outshine themselves and their nation in all the spheres. The programme ended on vote of thanks by NCC Cadet SUO Mr. Bana Singh Thakur and Cadet Harpal Singh.

GDC Bhaderwah elects new staff secretary for the session 2016-17

The staff of GDC Bhaderwah elected new staff secretary today on 2-8-2016. As there were two contestants for the post of staff secretary namely Dr. Javed Iqbal HOD Botany and Prof. Prithvi Raj HOD Commerce. Prof. Prithvi Raj was declared the winner by the election commission namely Prof. N.K..Manhas,HOD Physics & Prof. Haqiqat Singh.

One day regional seminar on the topic “Protection of Trees and Human Health” was organized by the Deptt. of Botany Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah. Large number of students, prominent citizens and media persons attended the seminar. Prof. Z.A. Hashmi Principal of the college presided over the function. Dr. Javed Iqbal HOD Botany presented the inaugural key note address of the seminar and welcomed the guests.Speaking on the occasion Prof. Z.A. Hashmi stressed on plantation and conservation of various species of trees for the sustainable development and maintenance of ecological balance. He highlighted the medicinal, ornamental and aesthetic value of the trees. He also congratulated the organizers and speakers for their valuable presentation in the seminar. Nearly 15 speakers presented their papers in the seminar. Mr. Ashiq Hussain and Mr. Manish Kumar secured 1st and 2nd positions where as Waqar, Sumaya, Kulbir Singh and Umar shared 3rd position. Among others who also made the thought provoking presentations were Majid Malik, Prof. Basharat Iqbal, Prof. Haqiqiat Singh. Prof. Surinder Singh Parihar and Prof. Prithvi Raj compared the judgment and Prof. Davinder Kumar presented the formal vote of thanks.

A seminar was organized by the Deptt. of Mathematics Govt. PG College Bhaderwah, today on 25th of June 2016. The seminar was organized under the title “History and Origin of Mathematics”. The seminar was inaugurated by the incharge Principal of the college Prof. Basharat Iqbal. He stressed the need for organizing such seminars on regular basis to make the students aware of Mathematical knowledge and importance of said theme. The students who presented their papers were Sudershan Singh, Akshay Kumar, Asif Dar, Rashu Kotwal, Savita Devi, Abinash Singh, Jamshed Ahmed, Poonam Manhas, Jameel Ahmed, Sonika Kotwal and Vishal Kumar. The programme was attended by Prof. Adil Hussain, Prof. Amir Aslam, Prof. Sama Shabir, Prof. Mehak Shabir and Prof. Imran Iqbal. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Rajeev Kumar HOD Mathematics, who also congratulated the students for their performance and participation. He encouraged the students with the remarks that “Mathematics is as old as human existence and it is a subject of instructions” with reference to an ancient mathematician Eratosthenes how he calculated the circumference of earth with his methods and calculations.

A one-day seminar on the life and works of John Milton

A one-day seminar on the life and works of John Milton the famous English poet and a true representative of puritan literature was organized by the Deptt. of English, GDC Bhaderwah. Prof. Z.A. Hashmi the Principal of the college presided over and acted as chief guest on the occasion. In his keynote address he lauded the endeavor of the Deptt. of English for organizing a seminar on a subject which was rather profound and philosophical and depicted the development of English literature through different ages and times. Professor Basharat Iqbal, head of the Deptt. of English welcomed the esteemed guests and presented with brevity the aims and objectives of organizing seminars and symposia on the subjects related to language and literature. He highlighted the contribution of the poets like John Milton for making literature and poetry popular meaningful and inspiring for the future generations of poets and for all times to come. The Deptt. of English stood out among others, in the initiative of using a power point presentation. The power point presentation was jointly presented by Naz Zargar Assistant Professor Deptt. of English and Issam Sheikh student of BA Sem-I under the guidance of the head of the Deptt. of English, Professor Basharat Iqbal. Principal, GDC Bhaderwah, Professor Z.A. Hashmi was the chief guest, and faculty members from various departments attended the seminar. The audience primarily comprised of a large gathering of students from all streams. Four students, namely Muneeza (Sem-II), Nitika (Sem-I), Sania (Sem-II) and Arif (Sem-I) presented informative papers on the life and works of John Milton. Also, Miss Shikha Kak Teaching Asstt. and Imran Iqbal Teaching Asstt. highlighted various aspects regarding the life and literary carrier of John Milton. The power point presentation in collaboration by Professor Naz Zargar and Issam Sheikh was admired and acclaimed by one and all, and the same added a lot literary flavor to the programme. On the occasion the participants from amongst the students and the faculty members expressed their determination to organize such programmes in future as well. This was the first ever power point presentation of its nature which infused the spirit for literary pursuit amongst the students. The programme ended on vote of thanks by Mr. Amir Aslam Teaching Asstt. Deptt. of English.
