How to reach Bhadarwah

By Air Indian Airlines operates scheduled services between Jammu & Delhi.

Jet Airways also operates regular services between Jammu & Delhi. Jammu airport is 8 kms from the city center.

In addition various low cost private airlines like SpiceJet and Air Deccan operate between Delhi to Jammu.

By Rail The main railhead for Bhadarwah is Jammu Tawi (205 kms) where trains arrive from Delhi, Calcutta, Pune, Mumbai, Kanyakumari, Ahmedabad, etc. Recently train service has started till Udhampur (120 kms). As with flights, train bookings have to be made well in advance. During the holiday season, additional trains operate to and from various parts of the country.

The main trains operating to/ from Jammu are:

Malwa Express, Super Fast, Jammu Mail, Jammu Express, Shalimar Express, Sealdah Express, Jhelum Express, Himgiri Express, Himsagar Express, Lohit Express, Sarwodaya Express, Sarvodaya Rajkot Express, Happa Express, Navyug Express, Gorakhpur Express, Barauni Express, Madras Express, Rajdhani Express and Ferozpur Express.

By Road The journey to Bhadarwah is entertaining and thrilling. The journey can be divided into three logical parts:

NH-1A from Jammu-Udhampur-Batote -120 Kms
NH-1B Batote-Pul Doda - 50 Kms
Pul Doda to Bhadarwah - 30 Kms

On way to Bhadarwah: Patnitop highest point in Journey Road connecting Bhadarwah with Jammu, is a good, all-weather road with several sharp inclines and hairpin bends. All the roads are maintained by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), which clears the road of any obstructions resulting from natural causes like landslides and heavy snowfall. Deluxe busses are operated by J&K SRTC as well as other private transport agencies. These take approx. 7 hours to cover the journey from Jammu and 5-6 hours from Udhampur. The cost per seat in J&K SRTC bus is under Rs. 150/. For current fair information http://jksrtc.nic.in. The cost of private transporters is fairly nominal.

It is also possible to travel by taxi/tata Sumo from Jammu and Udhampur to Bhadarwah. If you are traveling alone, it is worth enquiring at the taxi stand in the Tourist Reception Center, Jammu (Tel 2546266) about the availability of taking a shared taxi. There are several places en route which have been developed for the convenience of the motorist. Among them Jajjar Kotli, Kud, Pantnitop, Batote, Ramgarh, Pull Doda, all having tourist bungalows and provisions for meals, snacks.
